Monthly Live Jam Session at The Voodoo Rooms with some of Scotland's leading musicians playing lounge grooves from many genres. Catch Blues, Soul, Funk, Ska, Rock and Reggae..sometimes even Jazz & Country. There's decent valve amps, a tight sound system and musicians play by invitation to set a good standard. recent guests have included Jerry Donahue, Neil Warden, Stevie Hay and Sliding Dave Dixon. Usually a Thursday, late in the month. Watch this site and announcement each month for dates. The sessions are arranged by Rod Kennerd who plays bass with Stevie Hayes's Band and Ash Gupta, Guitarist and leader of Kool Vibration, Scotland's top Roots Reggae ensemble featuring Phil Soltau from Kingston on Keys."

The Joe Acheson Quartet have been been making mind-melting head music for a few years now, gaining massive praise in the process. They style themselves apart from anything else around just now, using a mixture of samples, live cello, violin keys, bass and drums. The music is cinematic and very deep, evoking both Cinematic Orchestra and DJ Shadow in the same breath, but with a very Scottish undertone.

Live musical entertainment will be provided plus a dinner jazz, lounge & bossa playlist, in The Ballroom which is seated for table service. The Supper Club takes place monthly on Friday evenings or by special arrangement. We'll be happy to arrange a bespoke Supper Club for large groups.

"The name Goldenboy started on one of the tours I was doing with Elliott Smith," explains Shon Sullivan. "We all had these funny little nicknames, and that became mine. We got back after the trip and started to play some shows, and the booking agent started booking us under 'Goldenboy'. We thought it was funny, so it stuck." Shon Sullivan has criss-crossed the world as part of former Weezer/The Rentals man Matt Sharp's touring band and has played with bands including The Eels, Johnny Marr, Spain, Neil Finn - and most prominently, Elliott Smith, whom he gigged alongside for four years until the songwriter's suicide in 2003.
Goldenboy's second record, Underneath The Radio, has just landed in the US. Right now, though, is your chance to hear where it all began. Blue Swan Orchestra, their debut album has been released in the UK by Split Records.
